Pisa is also on UNESCO World Heritage List with the entire walled area of Piazza dei Miracoli, also known as the “Miracle Square”. This is considered as one of the world’s main centres of medieval art, its medieval city centre, architectural masterpiece and a long and preserved medieval history.
The local environment is also ideal for an active holiday with good conditions for walking tours along the winding trails, relaxing beach life and the opportunity to take part of water activities and water sports on the Versilia coast, which is just about 10 kilometres west from the centre!
Pisa is also an exuberant city of entertainment like no place else! There are happy and expectant students mixed with tourists who let themselves be captivated by a kitchen that has arisen somewhere in the meeting between Tuscany’s hills and Mediterranean delights. In Pisa, it is difficult to avoid being totally amazed by all the gastronomic tastes you are exposed to daily.
In this flattering city, the “natural meetings” are in the centre, and the city’s every square has a unique place in the hearts of the locals! Piazza delle Vettovaglie with its covered “vaulted sky” and the square Piazza Chiara Gambacorti is in the heart of the medieval Pisa, in the centre of Pisa’s university campus, and here people are constantly on the move. Piazza Chiara Gambacorti is surrounded by cosy bars and restaurants and is the perfect place to enjoy one aperitivo or a glass of wine. In the evenings, the place is transformed into an entertainment district with crowded street life, and it is impossible not to smile in this genuine and pleasant environment! Tourist tax in Pisa
The Italian authorities have introduced a tourist tax on overnight stays in Pisa. The tax is paid directly to the hotel, at the latest on departure.
